With the acquisition of mobile local search specialist m-spatial, mobile data applications and services company mxData now boasts more than 100,000 subscribers, specialising in the delivery of travel and related information to mobile phone users, including its traffictv service.
M-spatial has invested in the development of software to enable effective searching and sharing of local information, building partnerships with with vendors such as Orange, O2, Telefonica, Vodafone and Italian directory provider Seat Pagine Gialle.
The acquisition of m-spatial enables mxData to add the all-important 'last mile' capability. mxData's existing live traffic and travel services will now be augmented with destination information, location tools, and personal navigation from m-spatial.
m-spatial's former CEO & business development manager Rick Smith, who will join mxData's business development team, said: "I am delighted that m-spatial is becoming part of a larger business that shares our vision and values.
