Telematics pioneer Altea has launched its new multi-protocol open telematic platform (OTP). With the ability to work with more than thirty different protocols, the system has been designed as the operational basis for the company's multifaceted business model eCall+TM.
Altea's intention developing eCall+ was to overcome the problems of cost effectiveness faced by the EU's eCall, which have slowed down its implementation. The EU eCall is back on track due to the FCD-based applications, which are the backbone of Altea's eCall+.
By testing and analyzing the functional qualities of the hardware available on the market, Altea's IT department integrates the device with its software applications opening the OTP and cover almost the complete range of hardware dedicated to safety & security and other telematics services in short time. This way, the partner can choose between a wide range of hardware supplier with a guaranteed quality by Altea.
Furthermore, OTP runs with a variety of mapping systems (e.g. NAVTEQ, Europe Technologies, Google, ESRI).
