Google's Street View spreads around the world

13 Aug 2008

Street View mapping, a Google application, has been launched in Australia and a New Zealand edition is planned within the next view months.

To dispel doubts concerning privacy, Google has put in place safeguards to avoid violations, including the blurring of any faces and vehicle registration numbers captured in Street View images.

Starting in the US in May last year, Street View is available in France and Italy since last month. For UK, Google has also been given the green light from the Information Commissioner to launch the Street View service that market. Other countries that can expect the service in the not too distant are Ireland, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, Japan, Switzerland and Norway.
