Already launched the Carminat TomTom solution on three Renault models, TomTom will deliver its second-generation semi-embedded portable navigation solution to Toyota.
The device offers all the advantages of portable navigation and is specially designed for use with the in-dash Toyota TNS 410 audio, video and navigation system, fitting seamlessly into a vehicle dashboard, providing full audio integration with the car speakers when using spoken instructions or making hands-free phone calls. It is a result of the joint innovation between TomTom and FUJITSU TEN and will be available in select Toyota vehicles in Europe in Q4 2009.
The co-developed Garminat TomTom will be available on Renault's new Clio, Scenic and Megane car lines. The embedded navigation solution includes TomTom's map improvement technology Map Share, allowing customers to make improvements to their map instantly. An extended set of safety features containing the Help Me! menu which includes information such as emergency and breakdown service numbers, directions to the nearest hospital, car maintenance advice and first aid instructions. The solution will be available from Spring 2009 across Western Europe, initially in the new Renault Clio, and later in the new Renault Megane and Scenic.
The products for both Toyota and Renault feature Tele Atlas maps.
