Skyhook Wireless enters Europe with its Wi-Fi positioning system and XPS 2.0 hybrid positioning system.
Including a massive coverage expansion throughout the UK and Europe, the launch also establishes sales and operational offices in the region. The 200 European data collection specialists of Skyhook have driven more than 750,000 km so far, mapping more than sixteen million Wi-Fi access points to provide coverage to more than 130 million people in Europe.
According to CEO Ted Morgan, the European expansion is an important step towards the company’s goal of delivering consumer-ready location across any environment, indoors or outside, in rural areas or downtown, in Berlin or Boston.
The European mobile social networking and search application providers BuddyPing, Rummble and Locle profit from the integration of Skyhook’s software into their devices and are responding to the users demand for fast, accurate and reliable location determination in all environments.
