Mobile LBS to be worth $13,3 Billion worldwide by 2013

Due to WCDMA and GSM handsets joining the many CDMA-based devices with GPS capabilities and an increasing interest in personal navigation functionality mobile Location Based Services (LBS) are gaining traction among wireless subscribers. By 2013 LBS revenue is forcast to reach $13.3 Billion.

A new ABI research study assumes personal navigation and enterprise services to be the highest revenue-generating ones of the five mentioned LBS categories with a forcast of $4.3 billion and $6.5 billion per annum. Cross-network interoperability of services seems to become the most important development and will lead to an higher usage of LBS services.
