Dr. Yong Li and his colleagues are working on a new INS (Inertial Navigation System) navigation that everybody can buy and use it.
The INS navigation is a non-satellite-based technology which is an alternative to the GPS navigation. The problem of the GPS navigation is that there may be dropouts in tunnels, between tall buildings and other satellite signal barriers. The goal is to combinate GPS with INS. This would mean that in the best case there won’t be dropouts anymore. Up to now the problem is that, although there are even INSs, it is very expensive.
