Pet tracking to get mainstream

The GPS-enabled dog locator Zoombak is now available in 900 Petsmart stores across the United States. Petsmart, the largest national pet retailer, is the first to carry GPS locator technology for dogs.

Due to its compact, water-resistent design Zoombak weighs just 2.5 ounces and has a rechargeable battery. Supported by the secure, interactive website, owners can create safety zones, set real-time alerts and generate on-demand locates. Partnering with Petsmart Zoombak will offer a series of hands-on, in-store demo days at select locations throughout June and July.
According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association there are about 75 million dogs in the U.S. and owners are expected to spent $43.3 billion on pets in 2008.
