Intelligent Mechatronic Systems Inc. (IMS) recently presented a usage-based insurance pilot programm in North America and the United Kingdom: iPaid (TM). The GPS related pilot offers the media, advocacy groups and government policy makers the possibilty to prove the effectiveness of UBI in driver safety, insurance coverage and pollution control.
iPaid (TM) is an in-vehicle GPS system, that tracks information about vehicle usage and driving behaviour. Stored on a USB data key the information can be uploaded to the iPaid server and is accessable via a password-secured website. By providing that data, iPaid offers the possibility to increase driving safety and insurance coverage. In the long term this may lead to variable insurance rates and as a result, less traffic, less cars and a decrease of vehicle-induced pollution.
iPaid is an UBI programm dedicated to the improvement of insurance coverage, driving safety and eco-friendly driving.
