SVOX acquires Siemens’ Speech Processing uni

27 Jan 2009

SVOX has acquired the Professional Speech Processing Group, including all of Siemens' speech technology-related IP developed over the past 25 years and the SpeechAdvanceTM speech recognition products and more than sixty patent families.

SVOX Deutschland in Munich takes over the majority of the Professional Speech Processing Group's employees.

According to SVOX CEO Volker Jantzen, the deal enables SVOX to provide devices that not only talk to the users but also understands them.

Furthermore, SVOX will be able to immediately offer its own Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) products as well as complete speech dialogue solutions. Allowing the company to significantly reinforce its position in embedded speech solutions for the automotive and mobile phone industry and strengthen its technology leadership, the deal puts SVOX to a commanding market share in speech solutions for premium cars.

"This combination is a natural fit because both companies have a long history of cooperation in various high-profile automotive projects, where Siemens ASR and SVOX TTS were successfully deployed as part of the same infotainment system," Jantzen said.
