ORTEC and NAVTEQ to develop Congestion Patterns module

ORTEC is updating its congestion module for its ORTEC TD routing and scheduling solution in co-operation with NAVTEQ.

The updated Congestion Patterns Module will incorporate traffic pattern and delay statistics - generated by NAVTEQ - while creating routes in ORTEC TD, said ORTEC's TD product manager, Theodoor Torn.

"A unique aspect of the updated module is the fact that the information is modelled according to a delay pattern for trucks," said Torn. "NAVTEQ already delivered traffic data for cars, but because trucks move differently through traffic, an adapted model was needed."

The updated module will be available as part of ORTEC TD in 2010.
