NAVTEQ expands global business arrangement with Microsoft

28 Jan 2009

NAVTEQ has expanded its worldwide agreement with Microsoft, giving access to all 74 countries in the NAVTEQ map database.

Gaining the rights to use NAVTEQ content including Extended Listings, NAVTEQ TransportTM, NAVTEQ Discover CitiesTM and NAVTEQ VoiceTM, Microsoft is also allowed to use NAVTEQ data in its Internet and mapping software solutions with this multi-year agreement.

The relationship developed ten years ago when Microsoft selected NAVTEQ to supply map data of the US and Canada for its product applications and expanded to include NAVTEQ map data for Western Europe, Asia and Mexico.

The new agreement enables Microsoft to provide global solutions to meet the needs of its international consumer base.

"NAVTEQ maps have been the foundation of Microsoft's cutting-edge routing solutions for years," said Jeff Mize, executive vice president, sales, NAVTEQ.
