MultiNav map database updated

Tele Atlas has unveiled a new version of its MultiNav map database to answer the fast growing demand for location-based services.

According to Purvi Rajani, Global Product Director, Tele Atlas started to develop the new database addressing the three major issues time to market, map size and single worldwide specification, three years ago.
The database development was carried out in three steps: optimizing its data structure to enable developers to compile data faster, reducing its data foot print to optimize cost, especially for mobile devices and creating a single worldwide format which spans "across 27.2 million kilometers in more than 70 countries, to the front doors of 1.9 billion people".
