15 Sep 2008

Garmin has agreed on an agreement with Australia-based Sensis to provide turn-by-turn-navigation for selected Telstra GPS-enabled mobile phones.

Sensis is a wholly owned Telstra subsidiary that will provide the POI and other dynamic content for the Whereis® Navigator. The navigation application's interface is very intuitive and allows costumers to easily route to a specific street address or to one of the 600,000 POIs using text-to-speech functionality to audibly announce the names of streets and POIs. Additionally, Whereis Navigator automatically calculates the quickest way back on track, if users stray off course.

The application also offers fixed speed, red-light camera warnings and seamless integration with the user's contacts stored on a phone, enabling convenient routing to a stored address.Users can also access weather conditions and forecast data for their current location as well as other destinations in Australia.
