Garmin offers map data for Beijng

Just in time for tourists planning to travel to Bejing in August, Garmin is now offering City Navigator® China NT 2008.

The new suite of digital maps will help tourists to locate stadiums, hotels, restaurants, and other POIs, said Dan Bartel, Garmin's vice president of worldwide sales. He added that Garmin is currently the only satellite navigation manufacturer able to offer these highly detailed maps.

Offering nearly seven million POIs on a microSD/SD card, Road and POI names are presented in Pinyin, the most common Latin-alphabet phonetic spelling of Mandarin Chinese., users simply insert the maps into virtually any current Garmin PND. These maps offer full coverage of China with turn-by-turn directions, including street level detail for more than 980 cities and the roads that connect them.
