TomTom: Connected services in Europe

TomTom has unveiled a line of connected PNDs available in Germany, UK, France, Netherlands and Switzerland during autumn: the range of "TomTom GO x40 LIVE" (three models: GO 540, 740, 940) will start at €349 and the "LIVE" service subscription will cost €9.95 per month.

According to the European customers' needs, TomTom concentrates on four key services:

• HD Traffic, a real-time traffic service using GSM probe data
• TomTom safety alert, a real-time speed camera reporting and sharing service
• Cheapest gas stations locator
• Google local search

TomTom "LIVE" saves time in getting around traffic congestions and saves money in avoiding speed tickets and finding the cheapest fuel.

"Through the introduction of TomTom LIVE Services we are also evolving from a pure PND manufacturer to a provider of state-of-the-art routing information," said TomTom's CEO Harold Goddijn. "We believe that through those innovations we can enhance the lives of millions."
