A year after introducing tougher penalties for using mobile phones while driving, the RAC Foundation has revealed that almost 50% of the UK drivers still override the law.
To prevent British Drivers from using their hand-held phones while driving, the UK government claps on 3 penalty points and doubles the fine in February 2007. Although researches of the DfT affirmed a reduction of texting motorists, police statistics shows an increase of 9% in England and Wales. According to the RAC statistics the level of texting whilst driving differs throughout the country: London (53%), Manchester (50%), Aberdeen (31%), Edinburgh (36%), Bristol (36%) and Glasgow (38%).
