The government of the German region of Hesse has formed a partnership with ERTICO Partners, Adam Opel, Continental and Dambach Werke in support of the "traffic jam-free Hesse 2015" initiative.
In August, the companies signed a co-operation agreement for the DIAMANT (Dynamic Information & Applications for Mobile safety with Adaptive Networks & Telematic infrastructure) Project that will explore Car-2-Car and Car-2-Infrastructure technology.
Continental and Opel will work together to equip a series of demonstration vehicles with communication modules and the corresponding control system software during the next twelve months.
Meanwhile, an initial test section of roads in Germany will be equipped with the corresponding infrastructure consisting of roadside units manufactured by Dambach. These transmitter/receiver units are designed to provide a communications link between the central control point and individual motor vehicles.
